Parameter page doesn't display without a visible required field
rcrane11

We are using BIRT 2.6.2 with TRIRIGA 10.4.1. We have a report with three parameters—one is the record ID, which is passed from TRIRIGA and hidden from the user; the other two are optional but we want the user to be able to enter them if desired. When we run the report from inside TRIRIGA, no parameter page shows up. When we make one of the optional parameters required and visible, then the parameter page shows up with the two parameters we want the user to see. We tried adding a new “dummy†parameter as required but hidden but the parameter page still doesn’t show up. We saw an older posting stating that at least one required parameter must exist with the advice to manipulate the report generation URL to make the parameter page = true, but we don’t think that’s feasible for our application. Is there a way to make BIRT pop up the parameter page with only optional parameters visible?

Thanks

In older version of BIRT, such as 2.6.2, you are correct in that without any required parameters the parameters page will not be displayed. This has been modified in newer releases so the parameters page is displayed with only optional parameters.

Using an integrated solution like you are that is based on a older version of BIRT makes things more difficult to work around the issue.

I think the best solution is to add a required parameter that is some what of a dummy parameter to force the parameters page to display. Something like: Use Optional Parameters: True/False

That would act like your dummy required parameter while still being fairly user friendly.
