Line Breaks with Emails

There is an automatic Linebreak in TextFields and Labels, when the Text contains "Separator Chars" like Spaces or hyphenation "-" Char. Our Layouts are structured with Grids. Sometimes the width for an email is not very wide (see attached sample), but it wouldn't be a problem, when the text takes two lines. Normally emails contains other Chars like Dots or underlines. Is there any way to tell birt to use additional Chars to generate the hypenation?

I'm not clear on what you are wanting.
Are you wanting the text to not wrap onto the next line of the email address is to long for the field?

No, the other way.
I want Birt to use Dots or underlines or some other User-defined-Symbol to use the same as it uses spaces and hypens.
 
If the Text-field is allowed to wrap text, birt would cut the text at a hyphenation-symbol, like space or hypen. Either Birt or itext does it in a "intelligent" way that as much text as possible would be in line 1 and the rest in line 2.
I think it could "calculate" the width of the text an cut it on an "intelligent" position.
 
I don't want to count characters of the email Address, because of different font symbol width.

I found that itext has a method to set the split character for Chunks.
 
chunk.setSplitCharacter(new SplitCharacter());
 
But I don't find any usage of Chunk in pdf emitter.
