Hi,

What does Priorities in resource group mean?

Is this same as Priorities which users see when schedulign a report (such as below) ?

;

1. Can I limit users to a specific priority?

2. Is there a way to disable priority change option for the users?

Regards,

Priorities within a Resource Group allow you to designate a job that is deemed more important than another, when scheduling a background (async) job.

1. When you create a User in IDAPI or have a used defined via RSSE, there is a property, MaxJobPriority, the maximum priority that the user can assign to a job.

2. You mean to remove the option from the UI? Yes, depending on what version of iServer or iHub you have.

Hi Amit,

On top of what Clement already described, if you are not using RSSE you can set the max priority in the user properties on the "jobs" tab in the management console. Only the administrator can change this value. If the user logs in the management console and open its properties, the max priority setting will not be displayed.

When setting up the minimum and maximum priority in the resource group you will make sure that only this array of priority will be generated. This gives you liberty on how you want the different priorities to be handled.

One point to know is that if a resource group is processing a long running report with a priority of 500 and a new request comes with a higher priority, the iServer will not stop the 500 to let the higher priority get generated.

If you have one resource group managing the priorities 1 to 799 and another managing the 800 to 1000 you can make sure no long running low priority jobs will keep a high priority from running.
