How can I flip a group's background color if collapsed or open?

Hi, is there a way to flip the background color of a group so that it is one color when collapsed, and a different color when opened? (using Actuate/BIRT 4.4)

It appears that you're referring to the commercial BIRT, and Interactive Viewer with the collapsed and expanded groupings? So, it's not possible out of the box.
 
There is a file, viewer.js (under /iportal/iv/viewer) that controls the IV functionality, which can be potentially changed. Unfortunately, we strongly do not recommend modifying this core product file.
