FormAPI access to browser attributes

I am trying to figure out if I can use FormAPI to modify the browser elements ceiling-dir and initial-dir attribute values.

In the FormAPI doc in Attribute Addressing, it talks about using the syntax /a/@a1 to refer to attribute a1 of item a. However, there are no FormAPI examples of it's usage. Nor have I found in any of the examples syntax for accessing/setting the value of an arbitrary attribute of an item.

So does anyone know how to do it? Is it even supported. Ultimately what I need to be able to do is modify the path in the ceiling-dir and initial-dir based on the dcr (or workarea) path.

I am not too sure how to do that and have not done it my self
HOwevere I have a workaround for this. i have CGI program which does exactly the smae and u can select the files from any of the workareas. May be you can use this a a CGI Callout and try.

Yes, please do post. I would LIKE to do it with FormAPI if possible, but getting past this LAST thing which is driving the need for 3000 unique DCT's (across 37 related sub-branches) vs. about 80 unique which can then be shared "as is" across the branches is worth implementing your CGI workaround. THANKS!
