Performance Issue with BIRT, specially when generating Reports
Channamari

Hi,

I am facing severe performance issues with BIRT . The time taken for the of generation of reports is considerably lengthy.. All my reports use cascading parameter group with seperate data sets for each report parameter and most of the reports have more than 20 columns.. Kindly inform as to where i should tune up to improve the performance..

Also, if my report has some 50000 or more rows, the report does not get displayed in the UI.. Please reply asap.. BIRT is a part of the application, it uses Oracle 11g as the Database, Java 1.6.0_18 and BIRT 4.4.1 version.. A snippet of the code where i send the report output to my jsp is pasted below..

Kindly reply asap..

The variables: task = IRunAndRenderTask, outs = ByteArrayOutputStream..

task.validateParameters();
HTMLRenderOption options = new HTMLRenderOption();
options.setOutputFormat(HTMLRenderOption.HTML);
options.setOutputStream(outs);
options.setSupportedImageFormats("PNG;GIF;JPG;BMP;SWF;SVG");
((HTMLRenderOption) options).setEmbeddable(true);
options.setBaseImageURL(ctxt.getContextPath() + "/images");
options.setImageDirectory(ctxt.getSession().getServletContext().getRealPath("/images"));
options.setImageHandler(new HTMLServerImageHandler());
task.setRenderOption(options);
engine.changeLogLevel(Level.ALL);
logger.debug(" Generation of Report is initiated. ");
task.run();
logger.debug(" Generation of Report is Successful. ");
String output = outs.toString();
return output;

My Viewer JSP: The variable reportOutput = output;

<%@ page pageEncoding="UTF-8" contentType="text/html; charset=UTF-8" %>
<%
String reportCode = request.getAttribute("reportCode").toString();
String reportOutput = request.getAttribute("reportOutput").toString();
