Issues with Bar Graphic and Groups

Hi guys.
 
I'm trying to create a bar graphic but I need to customize some of the vales by grouping, performing calculations and counting some fields... The data source is a CVS file and and this is the original format:
 
Date,Location,Test1,Test2 
12/01/13,AC,0,1 
12/01/13,AL,1,1 
12/01/13,AP,0,1 
01/01/14,AC,1,1 
01/01/14,AL,1,1 
01/01/14,AP,0,1
02/01/14,AC,0,1

...
 
I already have a table for printed by performing the calculation and presenting the data that is similar to what I need in the graphic. (When value is 1, implies in TestOK and 0 in TestNOK)

2014 2 0 3
 
 
My DataSet is already bringing me the following structure:
 
Date Location Test1 Year Month Year-Month

I'd like to have in the X axis grouped by YEAR, MONTH
2013 12
2014 01
2014 02
2014 13
...
 
Two series in Y:
- Ammount TestOK (sum all Test1==1 for YEAR-MONTH)
- TestNOK (summ all Test1==0 for YEAR-MONTH)
 
I'm using BIRT 2.2.1 (must use this version).
 
Any suggestions?

Since I didn't have BIRT 2.2.1, I was going to suggest...
 
You can change the Data Source of the Bar Chart to "Inherit Data from Container" (the table) instead of DSetSCM6.
 
Then for the X-Axis, use row["GroupMonth"].
 
For the first Y-Axis, Series 1, use row["AggrOne"] and rename the series as "Fora".
 
For the first Y-Axis, Series 2, use row["AggrZero"] and rename the series as "Dentro".
 
Add tool tips for each series (Mouse Over - Show Tooltip):
row["MES"]+"-"+row["ANO"]+": "+row["AggrOne"]
row["MES"]+"-"+row["ANO"]+": "+row["AggrZero"]
 
 
Then, I installed BIRT 2.2.1 and came up with something similar.
 
Your chart width needs to be widened because you have a lot of X axis values.
 
1. Named the left table as "myTable" so that I can refer to it in Step 2
2. Changed the Data Source to a Report Item (because Inherit didn't work)
3. Changed the X-Axis expression to:
new Date(row["ANO"], (row["MES"]-1), 1);
4. Changed the grouping to Months
5. Changed the name of Series to Fora and Dentro
6. Added tool tips

Hi, I'd like to thank you for your time and this solution you gave me was more a class on using BIRT then a specific solution for my problem here.
 
Yesterday after a couple of hours sleeping I came to a different solution that I could make work by:
- X Series: Using the date (Data Base) from the Data Set and changing the format for presentation (YEAR-MONTH) only, grouping by 4 weeks (I don't know why it doesn't work correctly when using 1 month, expression Count.
- Y Series: Counting my Tests OK and NOK by writing two expressions simulating my previous AggrZero and AggrOne:
if (row["SCM6"] == 1) { 
1; 
} else { 
0; 
}
 
It worked, but I still have some doubts on how these grouping directives work, for instance, why grouping by 4 weeks doesn't give me the same result as doing by 1 Month

As I said before, you gave me some really useful insights on how to use my table as a source of the data and by using the new Date (****) for X, I didn't know that was even possible. Thanks for that!
 
I run your report and it works correctly but if I change anything it starts to give me the following message: "Unable to use a non-numerical data to render a numerical axis", and that doesn't make any sense to me .

Glad to show you how BIRT works.
 
Sorry, I'm not sure why it's behaving that way. BIRT 2.2.1 is very old but you should be able to make changes. BTW, what change(s) did you make so that I can try to replicate on my end?

Nothing related to that, just moved another column there and put the new Date(Y,M) back and it stopped working. I'm not concerned about that anymore!
