Is this OS BIRT or commercial BIRT? What version of BIRT are you using?

It sounds like you're using commercial BIRT if you are referring to "BIRT inbuilt map", in which case, the HTML5 Map Report Item plots by countries, states, counties, and known cities. It is based on Fusion Maps.

If you're using iHub 3.1 or higher, you have the ability to use the Custom Visualization and in conjuction with JavaScript based visualizations such as Google Maps, Open Street maps, Leaflet, HighCharts Maps, etc...

If you are using OS BIRT, you can check out this post about using Google Maps:

Thanks for replying Clement Wong. We are using :

Actuate BIRT Designer Professional
Version: 4.4.0
Build id: v20150710

Our ihub server is 3.1.1

When I am talking about inbuilt map, I mean the option of inserting map in the layout in our reports is there. While inserting map we have option to select which country map we can insert as shown in the image below.

For your requirements, please use the Custom Visualization Report Item and a JavaScript map visualization like Google Maps, Leaflet or HighCharts Maps.

Can you please tell how we can use google maps in BIRT, and display the final output on web viewer and export it finally to excel.

Basically, I want to know how I can use javascript/java in BIRT to show google map.

I know how to plot points on google map using javascript but don't know how and where to write/integrate that code in BIRT.

Since you are using commercial BIRT, iHub 3.1.1, you'll have the ability to use Custom Visualizations (http://www.actuate.com/download/whitepapers/BIRT-iHub-3-1-TSNF.pdf#page=7)

If you drag a Custom Visualization Report Item to your layout, in the Data tab, you have the ability to assign what data set you can use to populate your visualization.

In the Templates tab, you can select a predefined template. In your case, select "Google Maps" since you have geocoded data.

At this point, you can just run the report to see the Custom Viz with sample data.

Then, you can assign Data and modify the template and point your data columns to the <changeme> items in the Template.

The Custom Viz allows for static CSS, script and HTML. There is JSFiddle one button tester. The Custom Viz can also load external CSS and script via head.js for example.

Also have you downloaded the additional samples I posted to the DevShare?

The Custom Visualization allows for exporting to Excel, PDF, Word with the same visualization as seen from the client browser if it had performed a print operation. The commercial BIRT emitters will be able to act as a browser to render the JavaScript visualization in the exported output formats.
