Retrieve JobID in wft

mdender

I would like to store the JobID of the workflow as a variable in my workflow. How could i retrieve this. The workflow is standalone, not being called from another.

You cannot do this, since the job ID has not yet been issued to the job, which has not yet been instantiated at the time of the parsing of the WFT.

The real question is: Why do you think you want this? To get to the workflow job variable, you would already know the job ID, or the task ID of any task in the job (and from the task ID, you can obtain the job ID). Storing the job ID as a job variable is redundant.

I want to add the job ID to the subject line of my emails that the workflow sends out. I'm sure I can modify the email script to achieve this, but wanted to keep it simple (not mess w/ the sendmail script), and just pass it from the workflow.

I have made extensive changes to send mail, I don't remember what it sends out.

You should be able to have an external task near the beginning of the workflow (I recall having trouble with either cgi or external as the first task, you may need a dummy task at the beginning) that sets a variable to the jobid.

If you need help with the IPL drop me an e-mail (see my profile) and I'll get something back to you. Please put "teamsite" or "interwoven" somewhere in the subject line.

One suggestion is: If you're using 5.5.2, then you can use iw_solution_email.ipl to send e-mails from your workflows. With it, you can craft the e-mail messages (and headers, including subject) to contain any data that you desire. All without touching the iw_solution_email.ipl script itself.

If you don't want to go the iw_solution_email.ipl route, it really is a simple change to iw_sendmail.ipl, as the $wfid has already been pulled in OOTB. It's just an addition to the headers hash...

my(%headers) = ('To'      => $$oref{t},
                'Cc'      => $$oref{c},
                'From'    => $$oref{f},
                'Subject' => "(Jobid: $wfid) $$oref{s}",
                'Content-Type' => 'text/plain; charset=UTF-8',
                );
