Good Morning,
 
We have had a set of BIRT reports which have been stable for a few years, but we have recently been pushed internally within our organisation to a new version of BIRT and one of our reports has stopped working.
 
I am not, and have never developed BIRT reports before so please excuse any ignorance while I learn what is required to make this report start working.
 
We have a cell within the report:
 
After some trial and error it would appear the problem is the reference to the row._outer
 
What this nested table is doing is saying filter this child table where this child record belongs to the parent.
 
This has always worked previously, is there anyway I can easily refer to the parent here to allow this filtering to take place?

The exception is:
 
org.eclipse.birt.report.engine.api.EngineException: In nested aggregation "Aggregation", all the non-constant expression must have same group level.

It's hard to tell with the information you provided. For us to troubleshoot further...
 
What version of BIRT were you using before?
What version of BIRT are you using now?
 
And to confirm, this report used to work in the previous version, and without modification, it does not work now?
 
If you want to PM your original design, I can take a look and investigate.

4.2.2 was the previous version
4.4.1 is the new version
 
These versions are out with our control as its packaged through a reporting web application within our business, and yes it worked previous and has been working and stable for years. We have just upgraded our reporting application which has enforced the BIRT upgrade on us, and this has in turn stopped the report working.
 
For business purposes we do not wish to completely redesign this report, but just try and fix the issue.

I'll add while I find out if I can send anything in more detail (we would need to heavily sanitise the report to be able to send anything).
 
The problem seems specific in the section I had above where within the nested table we try and access the data set or data source of the outer row.
