META Tag in HTML

I'm trying to pick up a value from the DCT and set it as a value in the META TAG in the tpl.
I'm doing this in my tpl -
<META name="{iw_value name='dcr.value'/}" XX="Y">
In my generated HTML file I see a blank value, even though I have entered the value in my DCT. I see this:
<META name="" XX="Y">
Don't know if we can set the value of the META tag at all.
Or if we can do it, where am I going wrong?

Hard to tell where the problem is if we cannot see the source code (DCT, PT, and preferably a sample DCR)
