How would you handle this lock transition?

A File(s) are edited and added to a WF and are locked by the Editor>>>
The Reviewer(s) are able to edit the files as well.

Between the Editor task and the Reviewer Grouptask I put an externaltask >>> /local/bin/unlock.ipl...so I don't get an error "Trying to lock Files" because I am setting the Reviewer Grouptask lock="t".

My dilemma is that some times these Reviewers leave these WF's sitting in there "To Do" list for awhile which is leaving those attached files Unlocked.

What can I do to make sure that these files are not being edited by someone else while still attached to this WF?

Are the reviewers making changes or just reviewing ? If they need the ability to edit, you cannot do jack.

If this is a readonly task, then what we do is remove the lock at the start of the WF, lock the file as root, tsadm, etc, so no one can change (unless of course if they know how to use Unix) and make lock=f on all the tasks.

You should lock the files to a user(Either SYSTEM on Windows or any other user like TeamSite ) after your unlock task. This would prevent the files which are part of workflow from being edited by any other users. When a user takes ownership of the files, the locks are automatically transferred to that user.
