Embed BIRT Document into MS Sharepoint
actuser9

Hi,

I have generated the a report document on BIRT iHub3.1. My requirement is to be able to open the viewer from the MS sharepoint site. I am able to do this by copying the report link from the "Link to this page" from the report document viewer options.

By doing this, I am able to connect to BIRT server by entering the login parameters. How can the login page be suppressed and the birt document can be viewed without having to enter the login parameters?

Hope someone may have tried this out already and appreciate any help on this.

Do you have Single Sign-On implemented (ICSE - Information Console Security Extension)? Or use JSAPI to authenticate the user?

If not, the only other way to bypass the login screen, and is a security risk, is to pass a userid and password in the URL to the link of the report design, or report document.

Hello Clement!

Thanks for responding! To authenticate user, we have the user management setting to LDAP/windows Ad. Is it easy to implement the single sign on? And how can this be integrated to sharepoint?

I tried to include "__username=****&__password=" to the birt document url and the report document link still seems to popup the login page. My URL looks like this:

http://birt:8700/iportal/iv?__locale=en_US&__vp=Volume&volume=DefaultVolume&closex=true&__username=****&__password=****&__report=/Public/Metrics.RPTDOCUMENT;1

It's "userid" and not "__username". (/iv servlet URI reference @ http://developer.actuate.com/be/documentation/ihub31-dev/AIG-main/index.html#page/aig/URIsBIRTViewer.29.4.html#)

;

More information about single sign-on (ICSE / Information Console Security Extension) can be found here:
http://developer.actuate.com/be/documentation/ihub31-dev/AIG-main/index.html#page/aig/Using-IC-Security.html#
;
There is a reference implementation here:
https://github.com/ActuateBIRT/ServerIntegrationIPSEExample/
;

And the simplest example of an ICSE, hard-coded to illustrate the code is:

package com.actuate.sample.sso;
import javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest;
import com.actuate.iportal.security.iPortalSecurityAdapter;
public class SampleIPSE extends iPortalSecurityAdapter {
String username = "administrator";
String password = "";
String volume = "Default Volume";
String volumeProfile = "Default Volume";
public boolean authenticate(HttpServletRequest httpServletRequest) {
return true;
}
public String getUserName() {
return username;
}
public String getPassword() {
return password;
}
public String getVolume() {
return volume;
}
public String getVolumeProfile() {
return volumeProfile;
}
}

You may want to talk with your local Sales/Solutions Consultant to bounce ideas back and forth as to what type of SSO you are looking to implement.

Appreciate it, Clement! Thanks a bunch.

Changing to userid worked.
