Chart based on table filters
actuser9

Hello BIRT Gurus,

I have attached a report that has a table with drop downs based on table values. The chart below the table is using the table as the data source. The issue is that the X-axis values are not being grouped by product lines. What am I missing?

Appreciate any help on this.

Your table is not grouped and doesn't have an aggregation on the group.

Attached is a revised version which has the grouping and aggregation.

Clement,

In the report, I would be interested to know as to why are the grouping and all the other features(Select Data: Value(Y) Series: Sum,Count etc) disabled for the chart?

The table can be used as data for a chart, but it not a Data Set. The table data is fixed. It's only when you have a Data Set that you'll be able to group and do those other functions.

The alternative is to put the Chart in the Footer; don't forget to merge the cells first so that the chart can fit. Then, you'll need to change the Data Binding of the Chart.

From:

Use Data From: Table

To:

Inherit Data from Container: Inherit Columns Only

Finally, you can choose PRODUCTLINE for the Category (X) Series, and a SUM of TOTALREVENUE for the Value (Y) Series. And you'll be able to Group, Sort, etc...
