FormAPI and disabling

Hi,
I have read different posts about disabling buttons. What I was looking for is that, when for instance one presses the save button, the close button is 'greyed out'/disabled while the save is in process. After the save finishes one can press the button (not greyed out anymore).
So there must be a way to accomplish this.
Has someone tried that.

While i am doing Save as i have file name validation if it is wrong it will ask user to enter name again but close button is diabling. But i want to enable close button is it possible?
