workflow for datadeploy
System
Hi ,
I'm trying to deploy dcr's to a database through the workflow attached. the workflow is configured to send emails using iwsend_mail.ipl file.
(1) the log file for iwsend_mail says "success sending email" but the recipient doesn't recieve email.
(2) i'm using the already existing author_submit_dcr-0.ipl file for deploying dcr to database. what changes do i need to make in the ipl file for successful dcr deployment to database.
i've been battling with the above mentioned problems and can't seem to get nowhere.
Immediate help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

There are
several
threads in the forums regarding iwsend_mail.ipl and the solutions to problems like yours. Have you tried to search the forums for information that might already be out there?

Hi,
I did check the forums, they do offer some suggestions about iwsend_mail , about checking SMTP server but that is not the issue here. so, i'm baffled.
(2) the forums didn't offer suggestions about modifying "author_submit_dcr-0.ipl" file for deploy to database from staging.
Any help in case(2) is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

You may be better off just creating a new script to do the deploy of the DCR to STAGING.
To deploy the file you will probably want to:
1) First create a datadeploy configuration file containing the mapping of the DCR to the database. This configuration file should accept a filelist as a variable, and deploy from the STAGING area. Also, set up database if needed.
2) Have a script that generates a filelist containing the DCR, and then calls iwdd.ipl with your configuration file and the paramater to substitute for the filelist.
Alternatively, you can configure DAS to automatically deploy the files as they're changed. (You'll end up with extra workarea delta tables.) Or, you could just do a differential deployment of the STAGING area every time you do a submit. (Much slower)

can someone tell me why , when i'm using author_submit_dcr-0.ipl file , the script is truncating (cutting off) the last letter of my data type .
so , if it's new_net/notices , the .ipl file is cutting off the ''s'' from notices and taking as new_net/notice and saying not found
datadeploy failed
can someone give me an immediate response to this ??
Thanks

do you have chomp($your_data_type_variable) anywhere in your workflow? that would cause it to act that way...
log_extract.txt
platform_extract.txt

Actually chomp would not have that behavior (chomp only snips off a carriage return at the end of the line) but chop would do what he is experiencing. I'm such a nitpicker...

Hi ,
there's no chop anywhere in the .ipl file. Does it have something to do with external attributes?
I'm lost...
Thanks

Hi, just out of curiosity; what was the problem and how did you solve it?
