TeamSite Metadata usefullness for Portal
sunil_j
Hi,
In a TeamSite and Portal Integration (e.g Plumtree - TeamSite) how does the portal make use of the metadata added by TeamSite to web assets - html, pdfs, docs?
Where should TeamSite metadata be stored/published so that the portal can make of the same?
How can metedata be useful for the Portal ?

Metadata can be used to enforce access restrictions.
Since TeamSite generates static HTML's there is no out of the box way to make certain content available to only specific groups of people. You can make use of metadata to do this.
When the user contributes the contents, he can specify the target consumer groups as metadata. the portal presentation can then make use of this metadata.
Typically metadata will be stored in a database.
Another use of metadata is for search.
The search engine can be configured to read the metadata from database and allow the users to search on this metadata.
hope this helps

Hi Ashish,
As per my understanding, all contents that are published from TeamSite will either appear as HyperLinks or static contents of the Portlet? How can one restrict the contents or number of links on portlets based on Metadata? As because metadata are not stored along with the content, rathen on a database. Can you give a couple of examples of sample portlets which can make use of this published content?
I am also interested in understanding how a search engine can be confired to read metadata from a database?
Thanks for all your inputs.
