Notify by email on changing content
mvdb
Is it possible to notify someone by e-mail when content is changed in the work-area?
So when someone starts editing a file in the work-area an e-mail-notification is being sent.

Well, I know that we can write triggers to fire an email for e.g as soon as an edition is published.
In your case you would have to find out at what point of time do you want the email to be sent. One option is the user clicks on Edit in the toolbar, or click on Edit in the menu bar, and then the email is triggered. For this you would have to dig into TeamSites code and place the mail command.
Another option would be, if the page is in DCR format and is edited in a DCT. You could write Form API code to find out when the user clicks on generate and trigger an email.

Be careful what you wish for, you might get it.
Yes, you can write a trigger to fire off og the IW_MODIFY event. It would fire only the first time a file has been modified from Staging, thus if you save and re-edit it will not fire.
This is non-trivial, since this is not a normal trigger (like iw_atcreate), but you can spoof it pretty easy. IW consulatnts do it all the time. Maybe 1-2 hours if you know what you are doing.
The reason I am skeptical is that many under estimate the amount of changes (and thus email) they will receive. Or that they want a complex matrix of owner/file for the email. Doing it for only a certain set of files (style sheets, etc) makes some sense, but so does having special WF for those. Finally, the triggers fire on any file being modified, so you would need to put logic to only email on certain fires.
Now you may end up doing it, I have this running, cause I have no friends & then receive lots of email from all over the company, makes me feel important. :-)
