iwPerl - Oracle Issue

Hi Gurus,

We are having some issues upgrading Oracle drivers for Perl. We want to upgrade to the latest drivers of Perl - Oracle drivers. so I tried doing thi

iwperl -MCPAN -e shell
configured shell.
then

install DBD: Smiley Surprised

racle

This failed at a point telling that the there was some error accesing ARRAY references in tar.pm.

Can any one help me know how to upgrade the drivers for Oracle?

Hi Srinivas,

My experience is that you cannot upgrade 'iwperl' to use the latest Oracle drivers. The version of perl that ships with TeamSite is 5,005. I believe the latest Oracle DBD/DBI require at least 5.6. (Don't quote me on the exact version; but it shouldn't be too hard to find out).

If you are running with a fairly current release of Oracle and require the latest DBI/DBD then you may need to install another instance of perl (at least that is what we did).

I'm keen to hear from anyone else who has had a similar experience with this.

Hi,

If you are running on a Solaris box, there is already an instance of perl installed on the box, so what i would suggest (ok i did the same) would be for you to upgrade that version with the latest version of perl and then redirect all the scripts that need the latest version to that.

And yes i wouldnt recoment to upgrade iwperl at all.
