Popluating a select list item in form-api

hi,
I want to populate a select list by fetching records from the database. I mean i have to execute a select statement and then populate the select list with the returned resultset.
How can did be achieved in form-api

If you want to populate in your DCT, I think the best option would be writing a java/cgi callout.

Hi Niranjan,
If the values in the select list are not dependent on values in your DCR then you could populate the list using an inline call to a script which returns the options.
If the values in the select list are dependent on values in your DCR. ie if you want different options available in the list based upon the value in another field in your DCR then you will need to use FormAPI.
One way of doing this with FormAPI is by have a callSerer call to a script. The script queries the database and returns some JavaScript which will be executed when the script is complete. This JavaScript will set the values in your select list.
The FormAPI manual has some good information on this process if that is the road you are going down that road.
