dd_pid not being updated

DD 5.6 Solaris 2.7

iwsyncdb.ipl -stopddd and iwsyncdb.ipl -startddd does not update the file $ddhome/install/dd_pid. Also the following errors in iwddd.log are seen:

Cannot find file /conf/iwsyncdb.cfg
Runmode: Serial Daemon
/install/dd_pid (No such file or directory)
Server socket bound on port(2345) interface(su17ws17.csintra.net)
thread[main] waiting to accept...

iwsyncdb.cfg exists and is formatted correctly.
dd_pid exists and is world writeable.

Looks like $ddhome is not being resolved, but it must, the server would not start without it, yes ?

Were there any errors while installing DD. DD is not able to find DDHome because the installation didnt succeed or the user starting DD does not have enough permissions. Can you see if you have file /etc/defaultddhome and if the user starting DD has access to that file.
