tpl

Here's a way you can do it. As an alternative to the second chunk below (the foreach loop), you could instead use the <iw_iterate> and <iw_load_dcr> tags with the variable from the first chunk...

#put the DCRs into an array
use File::Find;
my @directory = "/iwmnt/......./data";
find(\&name_files, @directory);
sub name_files {
@dcrarray = $File::Find::name;
}

#load each DCR and read the desired field
foreach $file (@dcrarray){
$d = iwpt_load_dcr($dcrloadpath); #make sure your dcrloadpath starts at the workarea's root level
$field = iwpt_dcr_value('$d.Field Name');
}

Hi Maureen,
i did the changes suggested by you. when i did that i'm getting the following error:

Template Preview And Generate Error:

Could not parse dcr: /.iwmnt/default/main/NTT_NET/WORKAREA/sdevinen/templatedata/nttnet/products/data
XML parse error :
no element found at line 1, column 0, byte -1 at /apps/iw-home/iw-perl/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.005/sun4-solaris/XML/Parser.pm line 185
:/default/main/NTT_NET/WORKAREA/sdevinen/templatedata/nttnet/services/presentation/services.tpl

thanks

Can u try with the following as dir path :default/main/NTT_NET/WORKAREA/sdevinen/templatedata/nttnet/products/data (i.e., remove /.iwmnt)

Good Luck

No luck as yet
Any other suggestions !!!!!

thanks

Could you pls send the code

Hi ,

Thanks for all the help.

whoops, I think I missed something... in your code put...
sub name_files {
@array = $File::Find::name;
foreach (@array) {
push (@dcrarray, $_);
}
}

...that should work. Sorry about that!
maureen

Hi Maureen,
that doesn't seem to help. could u paste the code 1 more time to see if i have everything right.
sorry for being such a pain......

thanks

I suggest putting in some print statements to see what your variables are returning. It's possible they're giving a null value for a DCR, which would stop the process. I've added a line to try to only push non-null entries into the @dcrarray... not sure if this works, though, as usually I search the html dirs and only push .html files. You'll have to play around with it.

#put the DCRs into an array
use File::Find;
my @directory = "/iwmnt/......./data";
find(\&name_files, @directory);
sub name_files {
@array = $File::Find::name;
foreach $dcr (@array) {
print "DCR-->$dcr
";
if ($dcr ne "") { push (@dcrarray, $dcr); }
}
}
#load each DCR and read the desired field
foreach $file (@dcrarray){
print "FILE-->$file
";
$file =~ s/\iwmnt...\/WORKAREA\/whatever//;
$d = iwpt_load_dcr($file); #make sure the file name starts at the workarea's root level
$field = iwpt_dcr_value('$d.Field Name');
}

Hi Maureen,
it doesn't seem to work. when i try to preview, the page just hangs and a manifest file is created under my workarea.
Too confusing!!

post your tpl again

Hi,
Attached is my .tpl file

Thanks

Hi Krishna,
Pls replace the following code
sub name_files {
@array = $File::Find::name;
foreach $dcr (@array) {
print "DCR-->$dcr
";
push (@dcrarray, $dcr);
}
}

with
sub name_files {
@array = $File::Find::name;
foreach $dcr (@array) {
if ( -f "$dcr" ) {
print "DCR-->$dcr
";
push (@dcrarray, $dcr);
}
}
}
It should work. Pls let me know.
Good Luck.

Good one, KTR! Also... you can't use print statements in iw_perl -- gotta replace those with iwpt_output("").

Hi KTR,
this is the error coming up :

Template Preview And Generate Error:

Could not process template: /.iwmnt/default/main/NEW_NET/WORKAREA/sdev/templatedata/newnet/services/presentation/services.tpl
:/default/main/NEW_NET/WORKAREA/sdev/templatedata/newnet/services/presentation/services.tpl

Thanks

Could you pls send me the datacapture.cfg, Pls let me know the output file type like xml/html/jsp, which u mentioned in templating.cfg? so, that, I can try here. If you give some sample DCRs, that will save my time also.

Edited by KTR on 03/28/03 07:34 AM (server time).

Hi KTR,
i'm enclosing the datacapture.cfg file and example(dcr) in services and prod1(dcr) in products. when i generate a page( .cfm - coldfusion page) with services.tpl , the generated page should have stuff from example(dcr) and 3 items from prod1(dcr - ie PDF- Title, Description1, Link to PDF) to be displayed.
I hope this is clear.
Thanks for all ur help.

datacapture.cfg:

<data-capture-requirements type="content" name="services">
<ruleset name="services">

Hi Krishna,
Here is datacapture.cfg and services.tpl, which works fine. Pls let me know, if you have any questions.

Good Luck

services.tpl

Hi KTR,
the stuff from products data-type like the title , description and link to pdf is not displayed . only the stuff that is in the services data-type is displayed.
the required output is not there

thanks

I think u should be able to proceed. Here u r using the two diff data-types and u send datacpture.cfg for only services data-type and 2 dcrs. If u send the datacapture.cfg for products data-type, it's easier and saves my time. Otherwise, I have to som much time to go thru ur dcr and find out items location!
if u want "required output", u have to provide all required files!!!
If u respond quickly, I will try to help u.
Try to add the following code in foreach loop after $title var.

$pdf_title = iwpt_dcr_value('$d.PDF.Title');
$pdf_desc = iwpt_dcr_value('$d.PDF.Description1');
$pdf_link = iwpt_dcr_value('$d.PDF.Link to PDF');
iwpt_output("

Services DCR Title:$title

");
iwpt_output("

PDF Title:$pdf_title

");
iwpt_output("

PDF Description:$pdf_desc

");
iwpt_output("

PDF Link:$pdf_link

");
Let me know, if it works

Hi KTR,
sorry for all this confusion. it didn't work. somehow it doesn't seem to be reading the products/data (dcr's ) . the page comes up with out the stuff from products data type. i 've attached the products datacapture.cfg file...

too confusing...

Thanks

Hi Krishna,
First make sure your datacapture.cfg (which u sent me recently for products) is working fine. If it works fine, Pls replace the <iw_perl> *</iw_perl> with the following code. I tested and works fine.

<iw_perl>

$dir_path = "/iwmnt/default/main/NEW_NET/WORKAREA/sdev/templatedata/newnet/products/data";
$root_path = "templatedata/newnet/products/data";

opendir(DIR, $dir_path);
my @dcrs = readdir(DIR);
closedir(DIR);
foreach $dcr (@dcrs) {
if(($dcr !~ m|^\.|) || (-f "$dcr")) {
#load each DCR and read the desired field
$d = iwpt_load_dcr("$root_path/$dcr", docroot, "t");
$pdf_title = iwpt_dcr_value('$d.Products.PDF.Title');
$pdf_desc = iwpt_dcr_value('$d.Products.PDF.Description1');
$pdf_link = iwpt_dcr_value('$d.Products.PDF.Link to PDF');
iwpt_output("

PDF Title:$pdf_title

");
iwpt_output("

PDF Description:$pdf_desc

");
iwpt_output("

PDF Link:$pdf_link

");
}
}

</iw_perl>

Best of Luck
