Linearize the generated pdf from BIRT

<p>Hi,</p>

<p>I have a problem in generating the pdf report in BIRT.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>When I generate the pdf report, it is downloaded in browser. When i checked the properties of the generated pdf(File -> Properties) . Fast Web View is assigned to No. It should be Yes. It creates problem.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Can we do any work around for this this fast web view (linearize) in BIRT.</p>

<p>can any one faced this type of issue?</p>

<p>BIRT uses iText to generate PDFs. iText does not support it so BIRT does not either. Here is an excerpt from iText regarding linearization.</p>

<p style="margin-left:40px;"><em>Linearization doesn't make any sense for dynamically created files or for files that need to be served to a mobile device. It would be "Slow Web View".</em></p>

<p style="margin-left:40px;"><em>Up until now, we've had several users asking for linearized PDFs, but once they fully understood that linearization would slow down the download process rather than make it faster, they decided against it. That's why we never put Linearization on our roadmap. Of course: if somebody wants to sponsor the development: you're always welcome to do so.</em></p>

<p>Can you please describe the problem are you seeing now with Fast Web View set to no?</p>
