onSaveNameSpecified - strange behavior

I'm seeing some strange behavior upon saving a DCR from my DCT....

Upon the onSaveNameSpecified event, I callout cgi to set some date values, and then do a screen redraw. (I only want the values to show as changed if the save has been successful).

If I use onSaveNameSpecified, the Select File window appears as expected and the screen redraws afterwards. However, after the DCT is closed, the DCR is not saved!

If i use onSaveValid, then the Select File window does not come up at all, and hence I cannot save the DCR.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is it a bug, or am I misunderstanding something? The following link explains IW's save events....

Are you sure that your functions are returning true? It won't save if an onSave handler returns false.

Yes, all functions were returning true.

I was able to work around the issue by:

- creating a global variable (flag) initiated to true
- onSaveDone, running the cgi (if flag is true)
- cgi calls FormAPI function....here, IWDatacapture.save(); to force the saving of the DCR, and settting the flag to false (so that the onSaveDone event is not run again when it's triggered by save)

My savenamespecified is not working for either save or save name. I am just trying to give an alert . but nothing happens. The form just gets saved. I have even registered it properly.
