Show Group Info on Detail Row
bhanley
Sometimes a report is better served by moving a group identifier to a detail row with all the other data items, rather tahn on its own header row. This can save screen real estate, make a report easier to print or perhaps just make the data more relatable to the user. Whatever the case, this is an easy solution with BIRT.

1) Create a table and bind it to a Data Set.

2) Add your data to the table as needed

3) Create a grouping on the table

4) Move the group's data item to a detail row.

4.1) You can delete the group header and footer at this point unles you need them for something else.
5) Select the column that the group data item is contained within.

6) Look to the report's properties (lower, right-hand area of the IDE), go to "Properties --> Advanced" and set "Suppress Duplicates" to true.
That will do it! Have a look at the atached sample, built on Classic Models to see it in action.

Good Luck!
