The IDAPI is Actuate's web services API to iServer Express. It is a powerful API that includes all operations that can be done via iPortal and Management Console.<br />

Apache Axis generates a client for the IDAPI from the web services descriptions (WSDL). However, it can be tedious to use this client directly as it requires lots of plumbing to string together the low-level structures that Axis generates.<br />

The attached client wrapps the Axis client to provide semantic level operations. Tasks that might take dozens of lines of code when using the Axis client directly take just a few lines with the client wrapper.<br />
