Use SimpleDateFormat for different date format inputs
johnw
Often times a developer may want to format a date as something other than yyyy-MM-dd hh:mm:ss that BIRT uses by default for its Date input parameters. For example, the user may want to use put in dates as dd/MM/yyyy, or have the report users define how they put in dates. The attached example demonstrates how, using String input parameters and a data sets default value expression, a report developer can format date strings using Javas built in SimpleDateFormat class. This also demonstrates how BIRT report developers can leverage the underlying JVM for their report development purposes.
