How to modify file date of deployed files
jal
Hi all,
We are currently planning to deploy JSP files to Websphere using Opendeploy directory comparison method. To ensure that the newly deployed JSP files are parsed by Websphere, we are thinking of modifying the file date of the deployed JSP files to the current deploy time to ensure that Websphere will always ignore the class files generated from the previous versions of the JSP files.
I have checked the deployment XML syntax, and it does not seem to have a feature that will enable us to change the file date of the deployed files.
Can I know if anyone has any workaround for this?
A possible approach I am thinking is to
get the list of deployed files from the directory comparsion and pass this to a DNR script calling the 'touch' command.
Is there any way to get this file list dynamically to pass to the DNR script? One way I am thinking of is to use the user attribute of "permisssionRules" element
to tag the deployed files using eg . 'tagfileuser', Then
use the following command in a DNR script:
1. "find . -user tagfileuser -exec touch {}\;"
2. Change the user from 'tagfileuser' back to the correct UNIX user for the Websphere directory.
The problem with the above approach is that it is UNIX -specific and will not work if the Websphere server is on Windows. Does anyone have a more elegant platform-independent solution? Thanks!

Im sure there is a better solution, but there is a really good POSIX/UNIX emulator by the name of cygwin.
It provides most of the commands that a regular UNIX platform does.
That way you can use your touch command in both environments.

Touching the file via post-deploy DNR is the only way to do this.
There's an open FR (#28763) for setting the date and time on deployed files to the current date and time on the destination server.
If you send me your company name, I'll attach it to the request.
