Rendering a Table with Rounded Corners
bhanley
The attached report design can be run as-is. The styling relies on four images (the rounded corners) and some CSS-elements. The images and the styles are embedded in the report design, so there are no external dependencies to running the report. The data rendered are from the default Classic Models database installed with BIRT. The layout is controlled via single table bound to a data source. Leveraging an extra header row and the table's footer row to create the rounded edges, the data are then placed in a detail row as would be the case with any table. To re-purpose the design for your own use, simply bind the table to a different data source and re-populate the detail row with the appropriate fields.

The images representing the corners can be generated for free at many sites across the web. To be able to drop new images into this design (perhaps to leverage the rounded corner effect in a different color) be sure to render your new corners as 10 x 10 pixel images.

The report design was created using BIRT 2.3.2 & the Classic Models database.
