Adding an Extra Slice to a Pie Chart
mwilliams
This example shows a way that an extra slice can be added to a pie chart. In this example a dataSet contains values for task "type", "scheduled" tasks, and "completed" tasks. From this data, the outstanding values are computed for each row and a total is figured from these. The pie chart shows the task type as the category and the completed tasks as the pie series value. What we want, though, is for the outstanding tasks to be totaled and included in another slice. The data is not formatted in a way to do this, so we add the extra value in script. The computed value of outstanding tasks is passed through a persistent global variable to the chart. In the chart script, the category and value series data is stored into ArrayLists. The new category and its value are added to the two series and the new dataSets are created and used to override the data in the chart.<br />
