Changing Flat File Query Based on User Entered Parameters
mwilliams
This example takes 3 parameters from the user to determine which 3 columns from the flat file to bring in. Rather than bringing in all of the flat file columns and hiding the ones you don't want to see. This example changes the queryText of the flat file dataSet to only bring in the requested columns (see the dataSet's beforeOpen script). Generic column names are used, i.e. "col1", "col2", etc., so that the same table can be re-used, no matter what the user selects. Script is used on the header label of each column to dynamically set the value to reflect the data that the user chose. If you don't want a set number of columns, a table could be dynamically created or columns could be added or removed from an existing table, depending on the number of fields selected, in the report's beforeFactory method.<br />
