set metadata in teamsite

vinylrecord

Query related to teamsite n metatagger:
In teamsite, we can set metadata for files as per the items in datacapture.cfg(iw-home/local/config/)file.
but when we search metadata(in teamsite only)...it doesnot use the metadata that we had set.
do we need to publish metadata some where after changing it or start some daemon to refresh changes.

what do mean by "when we search metadata (in teamsite only)"? How are you searching? TS doesn't have built in metadata search...

To elaborate a bit more (having just recently done some of this work in a project) .... the process goes something like this:

Configure your iw-home/local/config/datacapture.cfg file - pay particular attention to the use (and attribute settings within) of <database/> elements for the various items.
Also note that if the only reason for the DB is to provide for metadata search capability, you will want to disable the pushing of replicant fields to the DB by using <database deploy-column="f"/> for those itesm (i.e. the default action is to deploy all items)
Install and configure DataDeploy's DAS - here I recommend using DataDeploy 5.6 (or whatever the latest version is when you read this post), and the Event Server (rather than iwat triggers)
Initiate processing of the existing branches and workareas for which you wish to be able to both set and search on metadata (iwsyncdb.ipl -initial vpath teamsite/metadata)
Make sure to enable the custom menu item to provide the menu option of Search Metadata
Start setting metadata, submitting files, and searching for it

That's it in a nutshell - as always, there's a bit of detail work in between the steps which varies depending on environment, usage scenarios, etc. but hopefully that will get you pointed in the right direction.

hi
I have enabled metadata search in teamsite by configuring iw.cfg.when I clicked on "Search meta data" in View menu,I got a message "“mdc_dd.cfg doen’t exist”.I haven't configured
DAS.
But my question is ,is there any other alternative for DAS so that I can do the meta data search
Thanks In Advance

If you are not using DAS, then metadata search is slow & you need to write it yourself.

Basically write a CGI that runs a PERL script through your workarea, running iwextattr -l on every file.

Or configure DAS. :-)

I have the former working for templates, takes several minutes to go through ~ 13,000 records. I am certain Oracle would be faster.
