Number of objects in an e-room

Hello all,

I have an e-room which contains a large amount of data. Now when I am trying to add another document into the e-room, I am getting the following error:-

"The maximum allowable number of objects per room has been exceed"

What is the maximum allowable number of objects in an e-room? Can that be specified any where in site settings? Or is it dependent on the disk storage capacity in the server.

Hello.

The limit is 100 000 objects. The challenge is that various eRoom items use several objects, e.g. a note is 3 objects.

You cannot set this limit, it is hardcoded in eRoom. Your best option is probably to start splitting the room into several smaller parts. I do not know if EMC is willing to make a separate build that supports more than 100 000 objects for you, but if you get it you will be waivering all support from EMC.

We have face this problem several times. On one room we had 26000 "empty" objects, i.e. empty notes on versions of documents (when users check in a file, they just click on the Ok button on the versuion note dialog box). It is easy to build a sample script to clean your room.

The only exact way we have found to count objects is to go directly into the SQL database. For some mysterious reasons, our counting scripts never give a correct answer (the usage reports doesnt work better)

The only way to get out of there is to split the room into several smaller rooms. The good practice is to use Links into the menu to simulate that database or folders are in the same room : for instance in Room A, I have a database DB1, in room B a database DB2. In room A I had a link to DB2 and in room B a link to DB1. As you can change the icon for the link, it is "semi" transparent for end users.

The error arises only at object creation.

If to make object creation in other room and the subsequent copying from Room A in Room B the object remains. Certainly it is not convenient to work with it but how to explain such situation? Restriction all the same turns out it is possible to bypass?
