Problem installing ADTS

Hi,

I'm having trouble installing / configuring Avanced Document Transformation Services (6.5 on Documentum 6.5).

The installation seems to go fine, but when I then try to use the config util to set up an instance on this service, I initially got a DM_QUERY2_E_TABLE_NOT_FOUND error message saying "invalid object name 'joran.sandberg.cts_instance_info'.

I first checked that there are no trouble with the locale settings on the servers, and that seems to be ok.

I suspected that the period in my user name was the problem, so I created a new superuser with no period in the user name, and tried again (even with uninstall of ADTS, not just reconfig). But now the error message is telling me that the util cannot create a table since the name is not fully qualified (it tries to create 'cts_instance_info', not 'suprusr.cts_instance_info'.

Has anybody had similar errors?

Yes. we had the similar problem...in the docmentation it doesn't say to install the DAR files before you configure the ADTS agent. I had raised a SR with EMC also - they found this error in the documentation. They are updating it too. If you follow the instructions on DTS install guide, it is perfect.

It i true, you need to install the DAR files using Headless composer and DAR installer plug-in. After installing those, then configure the agent for the docbase. Also after installing the agent, you might get another error which is a bug in the product...as mentioned below..

The solution is also being provided below..

**_Symptoms_

"[DFC_OBJPROTO_BAD_NUMBER_FORMAT] Invalid number format for value count in serialized object" error is thrown when you want to see the Media Server folder or the properties for the dm_media_profile. Also dumping this object may throw the above error. The rendition is not created.

You can see following in CTS log:

- profiles are not loaded

- when you try to create rendition the following error is thrown:

"com.documentum.cts.plugin.common.CTSPluginException: No profile with name 'legacy_to_pdf' was found."

**_Cause</u</p>

During ADTS 6.5 installation the dm_media_profile object gets corrupted.

**_Resolution</u</p>

Bug #166873 already created, but the following workaround should resolve the problem:

Remove all dm_media_profile objects from the docbase using SQLPlus/Query

Analyzer.

Delete from dm_sysobject_s where r_object_type ='dm_media_profile';

Delete from dm_media_profile_r;

Delete from dm_media_profile_s;

Then drop the attribues from the dm_media_profile object type using the

following DQL Script:

EXECUTE ALLOW_BASE_TYPE_CHANGES WITH ALLOW_CHANGE_FLAG=1;

ALTER TYPE dm_media_profile DROP source_formats;

ALTER TYPE dm_media_profile DROP target_formats;

ALTER TYPE dm_media_profile DROP cmd_file_paths;

ALTER TYPE dm_media_profile DROP related_objects_only;

ALTER TYPE dm_media_profile DROP object_type;

ALTER TYPE dm_media_profile DROP src_object_type;

ALTER TYPE dm_media_profile DROP filter_names;

ALTER TYPE dm_media_profile DROP filter_values;

EXECUTE ALLOW_BASE_TYPE_CHANGES WITH ALLOW_CHANGE_FLAG=0;

Stop and re-start docbase...

Add all the attributes to the type again using the following DQL script

EXECUTE ALLOW_BASE_TYPE_CHANGES WITH ALLOW_CHANGE_FLAG=1;

ALTER TYPE dm_media_profile ADD source_formats CHAR(64) REPEATING;

ALTER TYPE dm_media_profile ADD target_formats CHAR(64) REPEATING;

ALTER TYPE dm_media_profile ADD related_objects_only BOOLEAN;

ALTER TYPE dm_media_profile ADD object_type CHAR(255);

ALTER TYPE dm_media_profile ADD src_object_type CHAR(64) REPEATING;

ALTER TYPE dm_media_profile ADD filter_names CHAR(32) REPEATING;

ALTER TYPE dm_media_profile ADD filter_values CHAR(64) REPEATING;

EXECUTE ALLOW_BASE_TYPE_CHANGES WITH ALLOW_CHANGE_FLAG=0;

Stop and re-start docbase...

Your comments is very helpful. Just one notes, I think you have miss a DQL before the first one:

Delete from dm_sysobject_s where r_object_type ='dm_media_profile';

I think you should delete the _r table first before you delete the _s table, otherwise there will be some issues with profiles.

Delete from dm_sysobject_r where r_object_id in (select r_object_id from dm_sysobject_s where r_object_type ='dm_media_profile');
