Do we have to install DFS 6.5 on content server 6.0 sp1, if we want to use new features in emc-dfs-s

We have installed content server 6 sp1 and want to use the new features in the emc-dfs-sdk-6.5.zip,

do we have to install DFS 6.5 to use the new .net library's, or can we use it against the DFS 6 sp1

If you want to use only the existing services of 6.0 SP1, then you don't need to install 6.5 DFS as WSDLs are not changed (as far as I know). If you need new services, of course you need to install DFS 6.5, but you should install it elsewhere, on a standalone application server.
