Hello everyone,
We are looking to build a portal (hosted on WebSphere Portal Server 6.0) and manage the content in Web Publisher 6.0 SP1. Our initial plan has been to publish the content via Site Caching Services to the portal and develop a portlet which would then display the content files. We developed an initial prototype that could do this, but we would like to find out if there are any best practices or standards for publishing content to a portal environment for our actual build effort.
If anyone has any experience or information related to this, it would be greatly appreciated if you shared it. Specifically, we are looking for best practices on where to publish content to within the portal server and how to retrieve this using our portlets. In our prototype we published content directly into a folder within the web application directories, but we would like to be able to publish it somewhere outside of the web application folder structure and still have our portlets be able to retrieve the content.
Thanks!
Jim Koch
