UCF ERROR PLEASE HELP

Whenever I am trying to open a file in webtop I am getting an error.

"invokeMethod() failed while calling: onReturnFromProgress
Operation failed: com.documentum.ucf.common.contentregistry.Registry Exception:Failed to skip attachment stream:

I am having recent versions of jre and jvm installed. I even checked with the IE settings but still not able to resolve it.

I am using Webtop 5.3 SP5. I request anyone to kindly provide me with a solution on how to resolve this isssue.

You need to delete the JRE cache especially ucfint.jar/cab from JRE temp directroy.

You can get to this directory through Java console of control panel for the corresponding JRE version.

In JRE console, open the temporary internet files directory and search for ucf*. and delete all jars/cabs from the results.

Don't trust Delete Temporary internet files of java console as even if it is unable delete the files it doesn't complain.

Also clear the UCF installation directory and let UCF re-install the binaries and configurations.

I suppose you have cleared cache on you machine?

Let's try this:

Go to your c:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Documentum\ucf\config

rename:

1) ucf.installs.config.xml to ucf.installs.config.xml.backup

2) ucf.launcher.config.xml to ucf.launcher.config.xml.backup

This is simply to make backup of the existing files.

Delete you Internet Temp files, cookies and history

close your browser, then load your application again.

Lastly, which version of JRE are you running?

Used to get the same kind of errors and never found out how to fix them, besides rebuilding completely the client.

In my case, the client getting the errors seemed to be configure exactly the same than the ones working, I couldn't find any differences even though there must have been some.

Since we build our user's machines using disk images, and since I'm lazy, it was faster and easier to rebuild the machine that spending days and most likely weeks trying to fined out the reason.

If you find it out, please, let us know

Go to Control Panel and click on Java, there you will find "Temporary Internet Files" frame in that frame click on settings button then you will find the path of the temporary files there you can search for the files and delete them.
