Help in Composer

Hi all,

We have a requirement where in we need to migrate folders, ACLs, Users, types from DEV to PROD. We are planning to use composer 6.5 for the same. Users i assume cannot be created using Composer and we can do it using DQL. If there is a way to create users using Composer, please let me know. Also I would like to know how migration of other objects mentioned above can be done.

Technically Composer should not be used as a dump&load tool since we don't assume an arbitrarily large number of objects in a given project.

To answer your question about users, you can do it in the pre-install Docbasic script.

Could you please tell me what is the best approach to install artifacts to a repository ? I mean,

1. Should we import all the artifacts at one go like object_types, folders , workflows , ACLs etc....

2. Or should we re-group some of the artifacts like creatting DAR for workflows and lifecycles , second dar for Object types and ACLs etc..

The point here is that instead of creating one DAR for the project we are creating multiple DARs , so that if there is any issue during installation then we can look into the respective DAR instead of the complete project DAR.

I asked this , because i faced issues while building and installing projects using composer where i had issues with forms and folders.

This is may be due to that I was not using the right approach.

I suggest creating one project with Types, etc. that do not change that often and another one for your BPM/Forms artifacts. You need to tell the BPM/Forms project that the first one is its Reference Project.
