DFC 65 "Full format speci cations no longer accepted"

I am doing analysis into upgrading Documentum 5.3 to 6.5 and reading through release note would like to find more information on the following, taken from the DFC 65 release notes:

Full format speci cations no longer accepted
DFC methods, such as setFile, that previously accepted a full format specification no longer do so. Those methods accept only a format name, such as txt or word, for the format argument.

S5lide the 5.3

1) What exaclty are the formats that are no longer accepted?

2) Is there a list of acceptable file formats?

3) How can I tell if we are currently using a file format that after the upgrade to Documentum 6.5 will not be backward compatible?

This was not a notice that certain file that are no longer accepted. It appears to be saying that previous to version 6, you could include a full format specification rather than a format name in the setFile method. Valid format names are the name attributes of all dm_format objects in your repository -- sorry I don't have a list, but you can obtain it with DQL or by capturing the dropdown list when you create a new object.

I am still don't understand the meaning of "full format specification". Would it be possible for someone to give an example or snippet of code that show full format specification versus using a format name?

I want to know what I am looking for in our code scans before the migration from 5.3 to 6.5

I wasn't able to find it in the documentation, so it must be legacy. If your code is not supplying more than a format name, you are safe. I would search for any calls to setFile and setFileEx.
