Object Links

Hello,

Hope that this post finds you all in good health.

I have 2 questions.

1. Suppose that we have an object called X unser cabinet called C1; and this object has an ACL called XACL. A link created from an another cabinet called C2. My question is. The object X will keep holding the XACL? Is it possible for the object X to keep holding the XACL under cabinet C1 and another ACL in C2; or just the same ACL for both cabinets?

2. Can I create an object and save it in the folder F1 and populate it as Links in another cabinet in the same operation ( i.e. in the same Create API provided by Object Service or another API)?

A document can only have 1 ACL therefore, if you document got XACL, it will keep it, until you change it

in Java, that would look something like

IDfSysObject myNewObj = (IDfSession) myIDfSession.newObject("dm_document");

myNewObj.setObjectName("My new object");

myNewObj.link('/cab1/folder1");

myNewObj.link('/cab1/folder2");myNewObj.link('/cab2/folder1");

myNewObj.save();

How can I accomplish this using DFS? Actually my development env. is C# 2.0 and DFS 6.5 I am not familiar and not using Java.

I am tried to find any methods in the DataObject class or ObjectService that help in link the target data object along with saving this object, but I did not find anything!!

Please help on this.

Sorry, never developed with DFS (yet, will come though) but I'm sure somebody else will be able to help
