How to promote a file to the next lifecycle state based on a date in the metadata

We use webtop 5.3 sp4 out of the box and have created our lifeycles using the Docapp 5.3 sp4 & BPM.

I have a document that has a lifecycle applied to it. The lifecycle states are Draft, Review, Approved, Binding.

I want the file to move from approved to binding when the gl_document.gl_eff_date is > todays date.

One solution was to schedule a dql as a method & have a job execute the method. Can someone give me some advice on how to accomplish this? We have not made any customizations to our system and I don't know how to get started writing a method.

I've also read about scheduled transitions, but haven't found any details on how to implement this.

Any advice is appreciated.

you can design an auto-activity, place ur method(job) code which promotes to the next lifecycle stage.

Hi,

I have a problem with auto-activity. The auto-acitivity is not executed. The message im getting in the inbox of my webtop is "Auto-activity is paused". when i forced to complete the task, im getting the error saying "version mismatch".

can u help me in solvin this

Rerun the auto activity from your inbox and look at your Java Method Server's log files (depending the Content Server version number it is on different paths), there should be an exception which occurs while JMS runs the auto activity.
