inheritting attributes of parent folder

Hi All,

We have written a tbo for inheritting the attribute values of parent folder whenever we create an inner object ('fold_type' or 'doc_type' - both have some attributes in common and these attributes values will be derived from parent folder attributes).

Now we have another requirement.Whenever any parent folder attribute value is changed, this change should be reflected in all the inner folders as well as documents.

Can you please help us on this by providing some suggestions in the approach that we should take.

Implement the following logic:

- Run a query that returns all object ids in the folder

- Loop through the objects

- Call the save on every object

If you've overriden the doSave() in your TBO, the inheritance should be reapplied to your custom objects and the changes should be reflected on your objects.

I am sorry, I could not find any samples in 'archives'. I saw a code sample for trapping 'import' operation to inherit the value of attributes from parent folder attributes. This is already done by us. But additionally in our requirement, whenever value of folder attribute gets changes, it should be reflected in all the children objects in it and all the subfolders.

Could you please provide me with the link if you have (or the title of code sample).

This is what I said, I have gone through and not my requirement. I have already done this. I am looking for some sample tbo which iterates through all its subfolders and containing documents for validating attribute values and updating them accordingly when a folder attribute value gets changed.

ERROR: Failed creating new folder.
[DM_DFC_E_BAD_CLASS]error: "The version of the class "com.honeywell.documentum.fc.client.AttributeOperations" is incorrect or does not derive from the expected class (com.documentum.fc.client.IDfPersistentObject)."

Any idea how to resolve this.

Sorry for that, was too quick reading your posts and missed that part.

Regarding your problem with the class, it's hard to help without seeing some code and knowing which version of WDK app you're using

The only instances I saw some similar error message (can't remember if it was exactly the same though) was when once, I registered an SBO manually in dbor.properties but gave it, by accident of course or was it because I'm a dumb fool, can't remember the reason behind it ;-), a different version number than the one returned by the class itself so you might want to check that.

The error happens at the point which is highlighted in AttributeOperations.java where I am performing a casting from IDfPersistentObject to DfFolder.

Any help in resolving this error will be highly appreciated.
