Linking a specific version of a document to a folder

I need to link a particular version of a document to a Project(folder)

Lets say there are 2 Project folders P1 and P2 and a document D1 with 2 versions 1.0 and 1.1

Now I want to link P1 to D1 ver 1.0

and P2 to D1 ver 1.1

Does anyone has any idea whether this is feasible in Documentum ?

If you have rights to do this (Write + Change location), then you can do it out-of-the-box, as far as I know...

In webtop use View/Versions, then add the selected version to the clipboard, and in the target folder use "Move here" or "Link here" menu item.

Hi,

if you need to do this in code, you can use link() method of the object. Retrieve particular version and call link() on it and then save().

IDfSysObject (Documentum Foundation Classes, v5.3, API Specification)


public void link(String folderSpec)
          throws DfException 

Associates this object with a folder or cabinet. This operation is not 
committed until a save or checkin is performed. This 
method performs a DMCL "link". 

folderSpec - defines the folder or cabinet to which you want to 
link the object. You can use either the folder cabinet's object id or it's 
folder path.

The problem after linking a document to a source folder is that when I view the target folder (where document is linked), it is not listed. It seems that DAMTop is configured to show current versions only. So, even though the file is linked, it does not show up in the file list when you view the target folder.

Can we configure DAMTop to show more than just the files with “CURRENT” version labels? I don’t want to show all versions of a file, because that would be overwhelming. But, we do need to be able to see other linked versions that are not labeled “CURRENT”. Can we also show “APPROVED” version labels?

You can do it by extending the ObjectList component, and replacing the Current only/Show all versions filter...

The same behaviour exist while using FSS. There also we need to select all versions options , I need to know whether there is a possibility to customize FSS (as in case of DAM) ? Or there is any other workaround exist for this one ?
