Problem installing Developer Edition

I tried installing Developer Edition but got the following error:

"DiPADbInstall failed! - Runtime execution failed with child process "C:\Documents and Settings\dmadmin\Local Settings\Temp\installerScript45755.BAT" exit code of 2; For more detailed information, see the error log: C:\unzipped\dctmdev\setupError.log"

This error is displayed while the installer is attempting to install the embedded database.

I'm running Windows XP SP3. I had previously uninstalled SQL Express 2005 and a DCTM 6.5 SP1 stack (incl. removing leftover registry keys). Has anyone got the Developer Edition to install OK?

SQL Server is a real pain in the back side when uninstalling. I have basically never been able to really completely uninstall it properly and had some problems with other applications because of that.

I did the install on a Windows 2003 server and on a XP box and it worked fine for me.

As stated when running the installer, SQL Server should NOT be installedo n the machine and I guess because it doesn't uninstall properly, that's where you get your problem from.

Do you have a nother 'clean' box to try on ?

OK - that makes sense. Unfortunately I don't have a clean box - just my laptop. Oh well. I'll blat the Developer Edition & reinstall SQL Server Express and full DCTM stack.

Hi,

This might be caused due to the uninstallation of SQL server 2005 and installation again of SQL server again with developer edition. Microsoft has documented this in their KB article

The Microsoft bug described in KB article 968749 (

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/968749) can cause an installation error ("DiPADbInstall failed!"). This error occurs with XML Core Services 6.0 SP2 which is installed when you upgrade to Windows XP SP3.

Can you try this and see if it works.
