My name is Vasuki Narayan, and I am a platform product manager at EMC. I am wondering what people think of the Documentum Developer Edition and the new content delivered here. We are looking for feedback on the changes so far, and would like to hear from you about what else you would like to see.

Specifically, here's the info I am looking for, but feel free to talk about any other changes as well...

1. Did you download the Developer Edition?

2. What do you think of the download experience?

3. What do you think of the install experience?

4. What would you like to see changed?

5. What other kinds of content would you like to see?

6. Have you visited the new XML Community? Did you download xDB?

7. How about the IRM Community? Did you download the SDK?

8. Do you like having access to the Early Access releases, even if they are not production-ready?

I know these are a lot of questions...

Hi Vasuki,

Here are my answers:

1. Did you download the Developer Edition?

Yes I did

2. What do you think of the download experience?

Bad using https (did it 3 times and couldn't unzip the file)

Good with FTP, only 1 download and it worked

3. What do you think of the install experience?

I whish installing stuff was always so easy. Basically, it's almost a 1 click and here you go. Love it

4. What would you like to see changed?

Maybe give the option to use some of the stuff installed, such as the retention polcies for example

5. What other kinds of content would you like to see?

DTS/ADTS for developers.

6. Have you visited the new XML Community? Did you download xDB?

Not yest but will do when I have some time

Not yet either

8. Do you like having access to the Early Access releases, even if they are not production-ready?

On one hand, I'd like it, on another one, I most likely wouldn't have time to do anything with it, even though that would allow us, in my company, to be able to release our products much faster after a new release so yes, I'd still lvoe it.

Great work hopefully users will respond to the questions of the developers so that we don't depend on EMC managers/support to respond the question which they prefer to ignore by not providing the details

Just a note for anyone responding to Vasuki. Keep in mind that most people found out about the Developer Edition at EMC World this past week. So you've got a few thousand people hitting a server downloading 1.7Gb worth of files. So transfer performance isn't going to be spectacular for the next few days.

With that in mind, for similar types of releases in the future a Bittorrent link would be probably the best way to handle large initial releases. It will ease congestion and shares the bandwidth. Plus, I'd feel like I was "contributing" in some way.
