Deleting failed indexes in index queue

I recently took over support for Documentum in the past year, and we are having sporadic issues where some files are not indexing properly. There are 700,000 indexes in failed status that have never been removed from the queue since our system was first created. I wrote a few DQL scripts but they all hang and I do not even think I am writing them properly. Can someone give me a sample script on how to remove these failed index jobs? Thanks in advance.

Try

delete dmi_queue_item objects where name like '%full%' and task_state='failed'

To delete the one in the warning queue, you can do

delete dmi_queue_item objects where name like '%full%' and task_state='warning'

Try to get a count first, like

select task_state, count(*) from dmi_queue_item where name like '%full%' group by task_state

such that you can get a feel for the amount of queue items you are deleting and whether it matches your expectation.

The deletion may take a little while, and the count will help you to check the progress of the deletion.

Thanks Lilly. I will try this, but there are over 700,000 items queued with a status of failed. It keeps timing out for me. How would I add a date value?

You can add the dmi_queue_item.date_sent as a qualification, for example:

select name, date_sent from dmi_queue_item where name like '%full%' and date_sent > DATE('2008/1/1 utc','yyyy/mm/dd')
