What services need to be started for Documentum Developer Edition

I've installed the Dcoumentum Developer Edition, but am having some trouble using the clients. I noticed that the Documentum services did not start. The SQL services started and stopped. I manually started these services and was able to log in. I'm not sure that I started all of the needed services. Is there a list of what services should be started? Should these start automaticlly? I installed with a Domain user account that has local admin rights, could this be the problem?

When you install Developer Edition all services should start automatically, on a slow machine it might take a little longer but it should start. In case it does not start all you have to start is "Documentum Master Service". The Master service will start other services that are required.

I have wiped my workstation, reloaded the OS and pre-reqs. Now all of the services start, but when I try to launch WEBTOP, I get:

The page cannot be displayed. (can not find server)

The url is http://localhost:9080/webtop

I've tried stopping and starting all or the services manually but no luck

Sometimes it takes a few minutes for Webtop to become available after the service starts. Start the service, wait five minutes, then try to access Webtop.

You could also check the JBoss log to see when the apps are available. When the apps are all available, the %DOCUMENTUM%\jboss4.2.0\server\DctmServer_MethodServer\log\server.log will contain a message like "Started in 6m:28s:860ms". Actual startup time may vary.

I ran into the same problem. Documentum Master Service is suppose to start all the service but I am not sure if it is starting in right sequence.

What I found helpful is to runt the ServerMgr.exe C:\Documentum\product\6.5\install and make sure DocBroker is started before the Docbase. This

seems to work for me.

I've seen in the past that It also happens that the Documentum services try to start before the network services are initialized. What I did in this case was using some tools from SysInternals (if my memory serves me well, I modified the Documentum services and added dependencies with all the network services. That way, the Documentum services start only after the network services are up and running.

I had the same problem then I used startMethodServer.cmd in C:\Documentum\jboss4.2.0\server

now it comes up with a different error but the web service is working.

Gave up on trying to get the Developer Edition to work on XP. Re-formatted the laptop and installed Server 2003 and the installation worked. Did it on a second laptop with Server 2003 and tht worked also. Guess XP was the problem.

I got it to work on XP You can't have java 6 installed and add JAVA_HOME=C:\Program Files\Documentum\java\1.5.0_12\ to the enviorment variables.

I actually used JAVA_HOME=C:\Program Files\Documentum\java\1.5.0_12\bin\java.exe I may try it again to see if it works now.

I had to rerun the Server_Configuration_Program.exe to setup the docbroker and docbase.

You should never run Server_Configuration_Program.exe manually in Developer Edition. This can leave your system in a bad state. I've posted more information about this in your other thread (https://community.emc.com/message/11193#11193). Let's use that thread to investigate your installation problem.

Had the same issue, all services were started but got page could not be displayed error when trying to access Webtop. Increasing amount of memory on my machine fixed the problem for me.
