Content Transfer using UCF with DFS

Hi,

I am trying to implment Content transfer using UCF with DFS as like mentioned in DFS dev Guide for importing file to Repository.

I tried to implement it,even the required UCF directories are getting created on client m/c when applet is initialized but i could not retrive UCF session id and conn id .i am getting following error when applet is initialized ,

Not very much versed into DFS but looking at the error message, it seems like you have a problem with your JRE. Depending on your security settings, it might be installed automatically the 1st time the UCF is used or not.

Check in the Documentum\UCF folder and sub folders to see if there is one installed by the UCF and if not, install the JRE yourself (make sure you use a version supported, check the release notes for that)

Hi Karthick,

I have attached a sample code which allows to get you the JSESSIONID. Have a look... Use this kind of code to get the JSESSIONID for the context you are creating to connect to the server for the initial handshake.

I have created the sample with webtop, for DFS you have to change the URL. I am not sure what kind of code you are writing to use UCF. If my code doesn't solve your problem, please give the code which you are using so that I analyze it.

1.5.0_06 but i am getting below warning too.I checked out JAVA_HOME AND Registry entries too,it was properly set to point installed JRE 1.5.0_06.But
i could not locate from where its refering 1.4

Let's make sure your proxy is configured properly. By the looks of it I would say the JSESSIONID cookie doesn't make it back to the applet. Could you use a network sniffer to check the response that comes back from the proxy? Does it have a "Set-Cookie" header?

Please attach the HTTP requests and responses from and to the applet for me to take a look if you can, please.

From your proxy config:

ProxyPass /runtime/AgentService.rest http://192.168.1.81:7001/services/core/runtime/AgentService...ProxyPass / http://localhost:8080

If you configure your proxy this way the DFS runtime gets the JSESSIONID from AgentService and initializes UCF on 192.168.1.81:7001, but the actual service is invoked on localhost:8080. No wonder UCF says it's not properly intialized on localhost:8080.

I am using DFS 6.0.

I compared the UCF directories being installed on client m/c by invoking UCF with DFS along with the UCF directories being installed on client m/c by invoking Webtop File import component.Both UCF directories are same except one file "MessageConverter.dll" missing in the ucf directories installed by the DFS Runtime on client m/c with

The earliest version of DFS I could get my hads on is 6.0 SP1 build 115 (6.0.0.115) and it has "services/core/runtime/AgentService.rest?method=getHttpSessionId". Unfortunately, it looks like DFS 6.0 does not have it and it can't work with UcfConnection(URL ucfServerUrl). You can use "new UcfConnection(URL ucfServerUrl, String jsessionId, String targetDeploymentId)" though. You would need a SOAP stack in your applet (which is very expensive in terms of bandwidth) to invoke getHttpSessionId through SOAP and provide it as an input to UcfConnection.

The easiest way out of this would be to upgrade your server side to DFS 6.0 SP1.
