'Import Folders' in webtop

Hi,

I have a custom type 'fold' which is a sub type of 'dm_folder'. I want to import a few folders from my local hard disk to documentum with the same hierarchy, as of this custom type, 'fold'. I chose to use 'Import Folder' feature of webtop itself for this purpose. But as soon as we enter values for custom attributes and click 'Finish', it creates folders, but everything in the same layer. i.e, Even though I intend to import a folder 'Test' with sub-folders 'Inner 1' and 'Inner 2', all the 3 folders are created in the same layer.

I tried the same operation with dm_folder (i.e, imported as type 'dm_folder'). This works perfectly, replicating the exact folder hierachy as I had in my local hard disk.

Is this a bug in webtop? Or has this component been designed to function correctly for dm_folder type folders only? If so, is there any easy way, we can change this configuration in the component?

I was able to achieve this functionality with a very small customization of import component as given below.

    <folder-docbase-type>my_type</folder-docbase-type>

Its working now. I hope I am doing right here, please let me know if there is any alternative opinions.

Thinking from folder import aka deep import standpoint, whatever you select after clicking on "add folder" should just be directory and it should replicate the directory stucture on filesystem as folder structure in docbase.

Actually at this point selected docbase type shouldnt matter at all (unless you breach the contract by this not keeping this a folder type at all)

If you selected your custom type for all directories by clicking next (if webtop didnt do automatically), I would consider it as a bug and would recommend that you file a bug and let EMC engg look into it.

On another thought, could it be some specific logic in your TBO which can do this? What does it do override doSave()/doLink()?

AFAIK, setting the "folder-docbase-type" to your custom type will make any folder imported/created of your custom type. Do you really want to do this?
