Unable to remove DFC 5.3

I am preparing to install the new developer edition, but it stops saying that there is already a documentum installation. I tried to remove the Documentum DFC runtime environment, which was hanging around after uninstalling documentum builder. When I try to remove the runtime environment I get the following error: Software has been recently uninstalled and there are pending boot-time
file operations that require a reboot before DFC can be removed
successfully.

I have rebooted many times after the uninstall, but still this error persists. What steps do I need to take to remove DFC5.3 completely from my machine?

Turns out there are a ton of registry entries which were not cleaned up as a result of the uninstall of app builder. I had to painfully deleted each one as well as delete all of the files. I'm not sure why the uninstall failed so poorly, but it looks like I'm at least able to start the install of the developer version.
